A good continuation of our protagonists' story. I hope the fourth book isn't the last and that there will be at least a fifth or sixth.
In any case, I must clarify that I'm not being objective in this review because it's set in my homeland many years ago, and there are some historical inaccuracies that I can't overlook.
In AD 796, what is known as Spain now wasn't completely occupied by Islamists back then. In the north we had Reino de León, a Christian territory that had Oviedo, Lugo, Burgos, Santiago, Braga, Simancas, Astorga, Zamora, Toro and León. In the south and a little more of the middle of the whole territory was the Al-Andalus, Emirato de Córdoba. In between were terra nullius (no man's land). In this book, Matthew decided that ALL the territory was conquered and colonized by Islamists, but wasn't true. I honestly don't know why he decided to do that when I already know he's someone who took Historuy in consideration and, it seems, he lived in Spain for 10 years or so, so I guess that he hadn't consulted with good Historian people, or he just decided to make it all Islamist to not make the story more complicated that already is.
In any case, it WAS a conquest and colonization. Something many people doesn't even know and those who know speak little of it. I can guess why, but that's another topic.
We honestly don't see much about the Islam vs Christian conflicts that happened during that time, and I guess we don't have to, because our characters are from the north and they care little for what was happening on the south. No matter, they had their own adventures. But since I'm from there, I can't pass the historical inaccuracy this book has. Also, not going to lie; seeing my territory colonized by those people made me angry and sad. We were stolen so much... Tho I know is not the author's fault, still affected my reading.
