Synopsis

Retired teacher Andrew Basnett anticipates a peaceful vacation in Gallmouth, England, but his plans are disrupted when he encounters his nephew, Peter Dilly, and becomes entangled in the town's first arts festival. The pleasant dinner invitation at novelist Simon Amory's home turns sinister when Amory's sister-in-law is found shot dead, with Peter as the last person to see her alive. As a second woman connected to Amory also dies, the prickly writer becomes a prime suspect, but Basnett suspects there's more to the case.
