Synopsis

Laura Callaway, orphaned and living as an unwelcome dependent of her uncle and his disapproving wife on Cornwall's smuggler-haunted coast, spends her days writing to the families of men lost to shipwrecks and returning their keepsakes to rightful owners. When a fresh wreck washes a wounded stranger ashore, she shields him from a local smuggler bent on silencing him — only to notice his cultured English hides an odd accent and an evasive manner. As Laura nurses him back to health and grows drawn to him, the truth about the man she comes to know as Alexander Carnell may be her only path to the answers about her own parents' fate. Set in 1813 North Cornwall, this Regency-era romantic suspense from Julie Klassen blends mystery and slow-burn romance along a wild and dangerous coastline.
