Synopsis

In the third and final volume of Haruki Murakami's 1Q84, the parallel-world story reaches its climax. Aomame remains in hiding in Tokyo, pregnant and increasingly isolated, while Tengo searches obsessively for the woman he has loved since childhood. Meanwhile Ushikawa, an investigator hired by the religious cult Sakigake, closes in on them both, drawing the novel's converging plotlines together.

As the world with two moons presses in around them, Murakami weaves together themes of fate, memory, and the porous line between reality and illusion. Told in the alternating, tightly wound chapters that define the trilogy, this volume brings Aomame and Tengo's parallel stories toward resolution while leaving Murakami's characteristic ambiguities intact.
