Tropic
Henry Miller's Tropic series explores the author's experiences in Paris and New York, blending fiction with autobiography. These classic works of literary fiction and erotica examine themes of freedom, sexuality, and societal rebellion.
The books are generally read in their publication order, starting with "Tropic of Cancer" and followed by "Tropic of Capricorn." While they share thematic connections, each book can be appreciated individually.
Both "Tropic of Cancer" and "Tropic of Capricorn" have been adapted into feature films. The 1970 film version of "Tropic of Cancer" starred Rip Torn, and a 1990 film adaptation of "Tropic of Capricorn" was also released.
The Tropic series is often considered alongside Miller's "The Rosy Crucifixion" trilogy, as they collectively form a semi-autobiographical exploration of his life and philosophical development. Characters and themes frequently recur across these interconnected works.
