The Spin trilogy is Robert Charles Wilson's Hugo Award-winning hard science fiction saga. It begins when the stars vanish overnight, replaced by an artificial barrier that an unknown alien intelligence has placed around the Earth, and time outside it begins accelerating far faster than time within — leaving humanity only decades before the sun, aged billions of years in the interim, destroys the planet. Across Spin, Axis, and Vortex, the story follows Tyler Dupree and the people around him through the crisis, then moves to the terraformed world of Equatoria and the generations that come after, as humanity confronts the barrier-builders' origins and technology.
