Marvel Monsters

Frequently asked questions

• Are these books part of a single continuous narrative?

The term Marvel Monsters refers to a broad category of characters and various anthology collections rather than a single, sequential story. Many of these tales originated as standalone mystery or science fiction stories in the late 1950s and early 1960s before the rise of the modern Marvel superhero era.

• How do these monsters relate to modern Marvel superheroes?

Many iconic Marvel monsters, such as Groot and Fin Fang Foom, made their first appearances in these early anthology titles long before they were integrated into the shared superhero universe. These stories serve as the historical foundation for many creatures that later became recurring threats or allies to characters like the X-Men and the Hulk.
