Leviathan
The Leviathan series imagines an alternate WWI where Darwinists, who use fabricated beasts as war machines, battle Clankers, who rely on steam-powered automatons. Follow the adventures of a boy and a disguised girl caught in this global conflict. This steampunk science fiction series offers a unique historical fantasy for young adult readers.
The intended reading order for the main trilogy is Leviathan, Behemoth, and then Goliath. There are no prequels or spin-offs that alter this sequence.
The Leviathan series is a standalone work and does not share characters or a universe with Scott Westerfeld's other popular series, such as Uglies or Midnighters.
As of my last update, there has been no film or television adaptation of the Leviathan series.
The series is notable for its alternate history setting where the Central Powers use bio-engineered beasts and the Entente Powers employ walking machines, offering a distinct steampunk-meets-biopunk aesthetic.
