Kagurabachi: the story so far
What happens in each book, in order. Every recap spoils the book it covers, so they stay hidden until you open one.1. Kagurabachi, Vol. 1
Chihiro is an apprentice swordsmith, training under his father Kunishige, a legend of the craft. But his peaceful days suddenly come to an end when Kunishige is assassinated by sorcerers known as the Hishaku, who steal the six known enchanted blades. Chihiro takes up the Enten, the seventh enchanted blade, and sets out to avenge his father's death.
Chihiro’s path of vengeance takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Char, a traumatized young orphan pursued by ruthless sorcerers. As Chihiro learns of her past, he discovers that Char belongs to the Kyonagi clan, possessing extraordinary regenerative powers that have made her the victim of horrific medical exploitation to stabilize Datenseki—the rare mineral used to forge Enchanted Blades.
Seeing an innocent child caught in the fallout of his late father's legacy, Chihiro shifts his mission from pure retribution to fierce protection. That resolve is swiftly tested by Genichi Sojo, a sadistic arms dealer wielding the lightning-imbued Enchanted Blade, Cloud Gouger. Driven by a twisted obsession to unlock the blades' ultimate destructive power, Sojo hunts Char to fuel his lethal research and targets Chihiro to annihilate the son of the swordsmith. What follows is a brutal clash of sorcery and steel, forcing Chihiro to push the limits of his blade, Enten, to keep Char safe and avenge the innocent lives consumed in the underworld’s greed.
