Sax Rohmer
Fu Manchu
Sax Rohmer's classic mystery series introduces the sinister Dr. Fu Manchu, a criminal mastermind whose schemes threaten global stability. Follow Nayland Smith and Dr. Petrie as they race to stop Fu Manchu's elaborate plots, encountering danger and intrigue at every turn.
The series has inspired numerous adaptations across film and television, beginning with silent serials in the 1920s and continuing through feature films in the 1960s starring Christopher Lee. A syndicated television series titled The Adventures of Dr. Fu Manchu also aired in 1956.
The series is frequently discussed in the context of the Wold Newton family theory, which links various iconic literary characters like Sherlock Holmes and Tarzan into a shared genealogy. Additionally, the character has appeared in crossovers with other fictional detectives, such as Solar Pons.
While Sax Rohmer created the character and wrote the primary novels, the series was continued after his death by his biographer and assistant, Cay Van Ash, and later by other authors such as William Patrick Maynard.
