Elemental Masters

Frequently asked questions

• What is the recommended reading order for the Elemental Masters series?

While each book in the Elemental Masters series features a standalone story and can be enjoyed independently, reading them in publication order allows for a subtle appreciation of the evolving magical world and recurring background elements. The author's preferred order for a first-time reader is also the publication order.

• Are there any connections between the Elemental Masters series and Mercedes Lackey's other works?

The Elemental Masters series is a distinct collection of stories and does not directly share characters or a continuous timeline with Mercedes Lackey's other major fantasy series, such as Valdemar or Five Hundred Kingdoms. It exists as its own self-contained universe.

• What makes the Elemental Masters series unique compared to other historical fantasy?

The series stands out for its consistent reimagining of classic fairy tales and folklore within a meticulously researched late 19th and early 20th-century setting, blending historical detail with elemental magic. Each book offers a fresh take on a familiar story, often from an unexpected character's perspective.
