About this series
Non-fiction companion volumes to Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels: encyclopedic guides (The Discworld Companion and its successive revisions), cookbooks, art books, folklore studies and the line of in-world diaries, yearbooks and journals published annually by Pratchett with Stephen Briggs and, after his death in 2015, continued by the Discworld Emporium and other collaborators. These are reference and novelty works about the Disc, not novels themselves.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best reading order for the Discworld series?
While the Discworld books can largely be read as standalone stories, many readers prefer to follow specific sub-series or character arcs, such as the City Watch, Witches, or Death novels, rather than strict publication order. Starting with a book like 'Guards! Guards!' or 'Mort' is often recommended for new readers.
Are there any Discworld adaptations?
The Discworld series has inspired numerous adaptations, including animated films, live-action television series, and stage plays. Notable adaptations include 'Hogfather,' 'The Colour of Magic,' and 'Going Postal' for television.
How does the Discworld series connect to other works by Terry Pratchett?
The Discworld series is Terry Pratchett's primary and most extensive fictional universe, with nearly all of his fantasy novels set within it. While he wrote a few non-Discworld books, there are no direct character or plot crossovers with other distinct series he created.
What makes the Discworld series unique in fantasy literature?
The Discworld series is renowned for its satirical take on fantasy tropes, its deep philosophical undercurrents, and its consistent use of humor to explore complex social and political themes. It often subverts reader expectations of traditional fantasy narratives.
