Frequently asked questions
What is the reading order for the Dark Sun series?
The original Dark Sun series, known as the 'Prism Pentad,' should be read in publication order to follow the main narrative arc. There are also several standalone novels and anthologies set in the same world that can be enjoyed independently.
Is Dark Sun connected to other Dungeons & Dragons settings?
Dark Sun is a unique Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting, distinct from other popular D&D worlds. It features a post-apocalyptic, desert-bound world with its own unique magic system, races, and lore, and does not typically cross over with other D&D settings.
What makes the Dark Sun series unique?
The series is known for its harsh, dying world of Athas, where metal is scarce, magic drains life, and psionics are common. It presents a gritty, survival-focused fantasy experience with morally ambiguous characters and a strong emphasis on environmental decay.
