Brer Rabbit
Brer Rabbit uses his wit to outsmart larger animals in this classic folklore series. These children's tales show how cleverness can overcome strength.
The Brer Rabbit stories are largely episodic and can be enjoyed in almost any order, as each tale typically features a self-contained adventure. While there isn't a strict chronological order, many readers prefer to encounter the most famous tales first, such as those involving the Tar-Baby.
The Brer Rabbit stories were famously adapted into the animated segments of Disney's 1946 film "Song of the South." These segments brought many of the classic tales, including the Tar-Baby and Brer Rabbit's briar patch escape, to a wide audience.
The Brer Rabbit stories were originally compiled and adapted by Joel Chandler Harris, who published them in various collections starting in the late 19th century. Harris presented these tales as told by the character Uncle Remus.
