Book edition view suggestions

When looking at a lot of editions it can be hard to guage the quality of each entry, which ISBN it has, which fields is missing, etc. Looking at e.g.: https://seekquel.app/work/half-city-jrqf?edition=01m3qa0mzyscxss279j3d61ym4#editions I think the entries would be improved with: * Marking if some of the fields are unknown/missing (e.g., format, publishing year, etc., which causes some of the editions to look odd, in my opinion) * Showing the ISBN for every entry (or ASIN if need be) * Duration for audiobooks * Show book title more prominently than the format

Series Buddy Read

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks Asma, this is a good one. We're planning to make series easier: when a buddy read finishes and the book is part of a series, everyone in it will get an offer to start the next book together. One tap sends the invites to the same group, and each person can join or sit it out.

Add “Select all” / “Deselect all” when adding Goodreads editions

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for the detailed note. Select all and Deselect all are now in the Goodreads edition list, next to a search box and language and format filters. Filter to the Spanish editions, then use Select shown to pick just those; Deselect shown works on the filtered list too. It's in the latest update. Pasting a cover from the clipboard on desktop isn't there yet, and we've noted it.

When using the new clear or tinted widget styles in iPadOS27, the book covers don’t appear, just white

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for catching this. The covers weren't told to keep their own colours, so Clear and Tinted painted them white. It's fixed, and the covers will show normally in both styles from the next app update.

Progress bar empty

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks, this was a real bug and not just on your end. The bar worked out its figure from page numbers, and Mage Tank: Book Three has no page count on file, so it showed 0% for everyone. From the next update the card shows the percentage from when you posted.

No option to upload files from iPhone to Seekquel reader

Sabri Ben Chaabane: You read the help center right, and it was wrong. Adding a book from your phone's storage isn't available yet, on iPhone or Android. For now books come from Google Drive only, and we've corrected the help center. Adding from your phone is on our list, and we'll reply here when it arrives.

Immersion

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for the idea. You can already link a book's EPUB and its audiobook and switch between them, and your place carries over. Reading along while it plays is a much bigger job, because the text has to be matched to the audio word by word, and your own files don't come with that. It isn't planned right now, but we'll leave this open so others can vote for it.

Application Optimization

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for writing. A full offline mode isn't planned, but reading progress you log without a connection is saved on your phone and syncs once you're back online. For books you read before joining: "Add a read" in a book's reading history sets when you started and finished. Adding reading time to a book already marked Read isn't possible yet. You found the one workaround (setting it back to Reading), and we know it's clumsy. We're looking at letting you add time and pages straight to a past read. Your Goodreads import had brought finish dates for 720 of your books. Goodreads doesn't export start dates or reading time, so those can't come across. Removing the imported books also left their 760 ratings on your profile. If you'd like, we can clear those for you.

Counting books read more than once

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thank you, you were right, and it was a bit worse than it looked. The yearly total counted each book once, so your reread this year was missing. Reading a book again also moved it out of the year you first finished it. We've changed it so every finished read counts in the year you finished it. Your 2026 total will show 26, and a book you reread still counts in the earlier year too. Your reading goal, monthly Wrapped and your charts count the same way. When the two numbers differ, the Books read card also says how many different books that was, for example "25 different books". It's built and will arrive with the next update.

Koreader plugin won’t update from the device

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for reporting this. Good news: your Kobo checked in a few minutes after your report and it's already on the newest version of the add-on (1.12.0), so there's nothing left to install. You won't see the update option again until the next version comes out. The most common reason for that message is that Wi-Fi hadn't finished connecting when you tapped update. The message didn't make that clear, though, because it said "could not reach Seekquel" for several different problems. The next version of the add-on gives each problem its own message and tells you what to try. About the storefront: KOReader doesn't have a plugin store of its own, so the add-on can't be listed inside KOReader. It updates itself from the Seekquel menu instead, which is the option you used. If you're using a community add-on that browses plugins, Seekquel is on GitHub as seekquel-koreader-plugin, tagged koreader-plugin. Tell me which one you use and I'll check why it doesn't show up there.

Pages read on Readest are not being tracked on Seekquel properly for some reason

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks Michaella, this is a bug on our side, not anything you did. Readest sends your reading to Seekquel in small batches while you read. Since an update on the 22nd, Seekquel has been keeping only the biggest of those batches for each day instead of adding them all together, so a long session shows up as a handful of pages. That's why finishing Small Worlds only counted 5 pages toward yesterday's goal, and why this morning's Beloved session barely registered. Your reading isn't lost. Every page turn Readest sent is saved on our side, so once the fix is out we'll put the missing pages back on the right days. I'll update this post when that's done.

Improvement in koreader plugin.

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for catching this, and for sending the description in the first place. Here's what happened: ebook files store their description as web page code, so the text from your copy of The Epic of Gilgamesh came with its formatting tags attached. Your account can publish corrections straight away, so it went live immediately, and nothing on our side cleaned it up first. That's our gap, not something you did wrong. We're fixing it where descriptions come in. From now on, any description sent to a book will have that code converted as it arrives: paragraphs stay paragraphs, italics and bold stay italic and bold, and everything else is removed. We'll also clean up the Gilgamesh page and other books that picked up the same problem, so you don't need to send it again.

Tier List Improvements

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thank you for this, it's really useful feedback. You're right that once a book is picked there's no quick way to take it back out, and that building a list from a large library takes more tapping than it should. Filtering by the year you read something is a good idea too, since "everything I read in 2026" is exactly the kind of list people want to make. We'll be making improvements to book selection and filtering soon, and we'll update this post when they're out.

Format Tracking

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks Michaella, this went out in last night's update. Open any book in your library and you'll see a Format row with your own details. Tap it to pick the format of your copy (hardcover, paperback, ebook, audiobook and so on), even if the catalogue has no edition in that format. Each read keeps its own format, so if you read a book in paperback and later listened to the audiobook, both reads stay correct. The By format breakdown on your stats page counts what you set there. If something looks off or you'd like it to work differently, reply here and I'll take a look.

Narrator limit too low

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks Henrik, good catch. The limit is now 100 narrators per edition, so the full Iron Kissed cast of 32 fits with plenty of room for bigger GraphicAudio productions. The overall credits list on an edition (narrators plus translators, editors and so on) went up to 100 as well, so a large cast won't hit a second wall when you edit the other credits. It's live on the site as soon as today's update finishes rolling out, and there's nothing you need to update. If you run into anything else with full-cast editions, let us know.

Readest Notes Syncing with Pages

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks Michaella, and good catch. Readest only sends a page number with a bookmark, never with a highlight, so there was nothing for us to show. We've sorted it from our side: we now work the page out from the reading stats Readest sends, so your highlights will arrive with the page you marked them on. Just leave reading statistics switched on in Readest's sync settings. The highlights already in your notebook won't fill in, unfortunately, but everything from the next update onwards will.

Integration with the new Siri AI

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Hi Emerson, Siri support is out. Update Seekquel from the App Store, open it once while signed in, and you can say "Start reading in Seekquel", "Log pages in Seekquel" or "What's my reading streak in Seekquel", among others. The same actions are in the Shortcuts app too. To be straight with you about your exact ask: adding a book to Want to Read by voice isn't one of the phrases yet. Apple lets an app register ten, and this first set went to the reading timer and logging. Your request is the reason we're looking at which one to swap out for it, so thank you for sending it.

Browser extension for catalog contributors

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Update: we've settled on a bookmarklet rather than a full browser extension, for the reasons raised in this thread. It works the same way, one click on a book's page on Goodreads, Amazon, Open Library or StoryGraph sends the title, contributors, identifiers, description and cover into the same review queue every contribution goes through today, but it's lightweight, auditable, and doesn't run as a background process. Still strictly optional and only for catalog librarians, the regular web form isn't going anywhere.

Reading progress says read 0 days this week but I have a 10 day streal

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Good catch, and you're right, this was a real bug. The days-this-week strip on Home was only counting pages logged that day. A session that counted toward your streak but didn't log pages (a timed session, or one synced in from KOReader a bit late) showed up as a blank day on the strip even though it counted for your streak. Fixed now: those days will show correctly on your next app update.

Sync now button for koreader shows older stats

Sabri Ben Chaabane: Thanks for the detail, and glad the size issue is staying fixed. You're right that the numbers on that screen can lag a little. KOReader only logs a page's reading time once you turn away from it, so if you hit Sync now while still sitting on the current page, that page's time hasn't been recorded yet and won't show up until the next sync. Nothing is lost, it just isn't live. We'll look at wording it more clearly (something like "as of your last page turn") so it's obvious what's actually being sent.
