George Butler's documentary, narrated by Liam Neeson and built on Frank Hurley's surviving film and photographs from the expedition itself. Interviews with descendants and historians, readings from the crew's diaries and a small amount of wordless reconstruction carry the story from the Endurance being crushed in the Weddell Sea to the open-boat crossing to South Georgia. It premiered at Sundance and later ran as a PBS Nova special.
