An eight-minute animated short by the German studio Kurzgesagt, made with Andy Weir's blessing and released free on YouTube in September 2019. It follows the story almost line for line: a man dies in a car crash and meets a being who explains what his life, and every other life, has actually been. The studio spent close to two years on it, and it remains the only screen adaptation of the story.
