The first of three films covering Ayn Rand's novel, directed by Paul Johansson, with Taylor Schilling as Dagny Taggart and Grant Bowler as Hank Rearden. Set in a near-future United States where rail has replaced a collapsed airline industry, it follows Dagny's fight to keep Taggart Transcontinental running on Rearden's untested new metal while the country's industrialists quietly disappear. Parts II and III followed in 2012 and 2014, each recasting every role.
